FAI Junior Cup 5th Round Draw Complete

The draw for the fifth round of the FAI Junior Cup has been made today with three Limerick clubs still involved in the competition’s last 32. The fixtures are due to take place on the 16th of January 2022.

Holders Fairview Rangers were rewarded for a hard-fought victory over Carrigaline with a home tie against Clonmel Town. Back in the mid to late 1990’s, both clubs were at the top of the provincial and national scene and enjoyed a couple of fierce battles. Clonmel have enjoyed a good season thus far with 7 wins from 9 and they are currently 2nd in the Tipperary Premier Division, two points behind St Michaels. Pike Rovers have been handed an away draw against Athy Town of Kildare. The Hoops were 0-6 victors over Cork side Dunbar Celtic in the last round and will be hoping to add to their solitary FAI Junior Cup victory in 2011, when the Crosagalla outfit beat St Michaels in the decider.

On paper, Regional United have been handed the toughest draw as they travel to Galway side Athenry. Athenry were semi-finalists last season where they were beaten by eventual winners Fairview. Athenry are also in great form with a 100% winning record in the Galway Premier Division.
