FAI Junior Cup Champions Fairview add Quirke

Newly crowned FAI Junior Cup champions Fairview Rangers have signed winger Russell Quirke from St. Michaels for the 2020/2021 season.

Quirke is an experienced player at junior level and has won two FAI Junior Cups with his former club. He will be a big addition for Jason Purcell’s men who will be looking to emulate the FAI Junior Cup victory with more success this season.

Last season, Fairview were fighting for silverware on all fronts before the cancellation of the season due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The club will be hoping to capture their first league title for 17 years which seems astonishing for a side who were kingpins throughout the late 1990’s and early 2000’s in Limerick.

A Munster Junior Cup and two FAI Junior Cups have followed since that last league win but Purcell will be hoping his side can replicate last season’s form where they looked unstoppable.

The signing of Quirke adds to the recent captures of Daragh Hughes from Ballynanty, Sean McSweeney from Crumlin United and Alan Murphy. Squad depth will be crucial with Aisling Annacotty, Ballynanty and Pike all challenging for league success this season.
