FAI Junior Cup Third Round Draw Completed

The draw for the third round of the FAI Junior Cup was made on Monday afternoon and brings the last of the inter-league games before the open draw. There are 14 Limerick teams in action in the third round: 10 from the District League and 4 from the Desmond League.

Last year’s runners up Pike Rovers will travel to Derryleigh Park to take on Newport AFC. Pike were beaten in last year’s final by Villa FC who were eliminated by Ferrybank at the weekend in a surprise twist. Pike will be licking their wounds after last weekend’s Munster Junior Cup exit at the hands of Fairview Rangers. Premier A highflyers Newport are rewarded with the tie after beating premier outfit Janesboro.

2020 winners Fairview Rangers will make the trip to take on fellow Premier Division outfit Charleville in Cork. Athlunkard Villa will renew rivalries with Regional United who eliminated the Lee Estate outfit from the Munster Junior Cup. There are three Desmond League teams remaining with two facing off as Newcastle West Town FC host Kicornan AFC.

The ties are due to be played on the weekend ending November 6th.
