The Football Association of Ireland are investigating suspicious betting patterns before and during Shelbourne’s 2-0 victory over Limerick FC at Tolka Park last Friday night.
Shelbourne’s odds went from 5-4 to 2-7 prior to kick off. Although, Limerick were two points better off than Shels before the game, it is alleged that betting on the home side winning by more than one goal increased significantly between kick off and the opening goal.
The FAI have stated that many betting organisations have contacted them to inform them of suspicious betting activity.
However, the investigation may come to nothing as Shelbourne’s early domination of their visitors on the field may have resulted in the spike in betting. The news of the investigation was broken on Soccer Republic earlier this evening.
