Fans of Sporing Limerick have been given the opportunity to vote for their Limerick SHC Team of the Year on social media.
Over the past week, the public have been voting for their preferred players on the Sporting Limerick SHC team of the year.
Barry Hennessy was the first player to get the nod as he beat out Brian Murray for the goalkeeping spot.
The following day, Dan Joy was chosen on the team, earning over half the vote (50%), beating out Seanie O’Brien (25%) and Dave Connolly (19%).
Joy picked up his first title this year at the second attempt after losing out in the 2017 final, the same year he collected an U21 All-Ireland medal.
He was joined in the full back line by teammate Mark O’Loughlin who won the #3 jersey, attaining 47% of the vote ahead of Ronan Connolly (37%) and Nigel Foley (16%). O’Loughlin picked up his third SHC title, adding to the successes of 2012 and ’14.
Liam English made it a clean sweep for the Balbec as he collected the No.4 jersey ahead of Chris Thomas and John Flynn, winning 40% of the vote. It was a first title success for English who will be key to their chances in the Munster championship when they welcome either Midleton or Glen Rovers.
