Final pairings for IFC and JAFC Finals confirmed

The finals of the Limerick Intermediate and Junior A Football finals were confirmed last night with the second semi-final in the IFC and both in the JAFC.

In the intermediate semi-final, St Senans met Claughaun in Caherdavin to see who would face Gerald Griffins in the final after they beat Mungret on Sunday.

In a repeat of the 2017 semi-final where St Senans would earn a victory en route to winning the championship, Claughaun drew first blood with the opening score of the game before the West side replied with one of their own immediately.

However, Claughaun had the better of the first quarter and lead 0-5 to 0-3 after fifteen minutes.

They maintained this advantage to the half with just two further scores in the second quarter, holding a 0-6 to 0-4 lead at the break.

The second half was a much more cagey affair with the City team getting the first score after 41 minutes to push three clear.

Senans would reply on 47 to bring arrears back to two heading into the final fifteen.

Three minutes later, Claughaun extended their lead once again and held out St Senans resolutely with the West side managing just one more point as Claughaun booked their place in the final with a 0-8 to 0-6 win.

Elsewhere, Monagea and Crecora Manister will contest the 2020 Limerick Junior A Football Championship final after they were victorious over Newcastle West and Croom respectively.

In the all-west affair between Monahea and Newcastle West,, Monagea had the first two scores of the game.

However, Newcastle would hit three on the bounce either side of the water break to take a 0-3 to 0-3 lead after 25 minutes.

The sides would exchange scores prior to the half with NCW holding a slight advantage.

Monagea would level shortly after the half before Newcastle again took the lead minutes later.

They would be level twice with the scores deadlocked at 0-6 apiece heading into the final water break.

Monagea would get the first score after the break and then the games all important goal to move four clear after 55 minutes.

They would not score again but kept Newcastle to two points to record a 1-7 to 0-8 win to move into the final.

They play a Crecora Manister side who beat last year’s finalists Croom 1-9 to 1-8.

At the first water break, Crecora were full value for a 0-3 to 0-1 lead.

There would be only two more scores in the half with Crecora maintaining their two point lead.

The sides exchanged scores to start the second period before a brace of goals had Crecora 0-7 to 0-3 to the good.

Croom would respond with the games first goal with Crecora down to 14 men as a result of a black card.

They wouldn’t prove deturbed by the concession of the goal as they kicked the next two scores to move three clear.

Croom had the final score of the quarter with the scoreline 0-9 to 1-4 in favour of Crecora at the final water break.

With nine minutes of normal time remaining, Croom levelled at 1-6 to 0-9.

Quickfire scores approaching injury time had Croom two ahead and headed for a second successive final.

Yet, Crecora would have the final say in injury time with a well worked goal sealing a one point win and a place in the final.
