The Airtricity First Division is nearing it’s mid-season, with that in mind we take a look at the proceedings in the league so far.
The Airtricity First Division is in full swing as it now nears the halfway mark after matchday-15’s most recent round of fixtures.
Cork City have been the runaway side this season as they comfortably sit in first, they are currently the most in form side with five wins in a row. Galway United are currently breathing down their necks in second with just three points in the difference between the two clubs.
After reaching the play-offs in their maiden season, Treaty United have had a up and down first half to the campaign. Recently Treaty have found themselves hard to break down but have failed to convert their chances, that so often claim upset wins last season.
So far this season they have a Win-Draw-Loss record of 4-4-4, an average showing so far but proves the side is quite capable of earning points in this league.
In their last five games Treaty have recorded two losses, two draws and only one win. They are currently fifth in the table, trailing fourth placed Longford City by five points.
Longford are just two points behind 3rd placed Waterford, with a game in hand. Treaty also have a game in hand on Waterford.
In their next game Treaty take on seventh placed Bray Wanderers in Limerick this evening. Bray are only four points behind Treaty but have played two more games.
Wexford Town, who will be looking at tomorrow’s game intently, currently hold the sixth position with only one point between themselves and the fourth position.
Athlone Town have not enjoyed a fruitful season as they currently sit in dead last with just two points in thirteen games played. Just in front of Athlone sits Cobh Ramblers, the side from Cork have eight points and recently earned a draw and a win in their last five matches.
Here is the current standings in the Airtricity First Division table!
As it stands, Limerick are in the final play off position with first automatically promoted with 2nd-5th entering the play-offs.
Last year, Treaty finished in fourth placed with 42 points, where they were paired with UCD who won their two legged tie. UCD went on to earn promotion.
