Fitzgibbon Cup quarter final stages get underway with Mary I and LIT both in action

Mary-I’s quest for three Fitzgibbon Cups in a row continues this evening as they travel to Dublin City University Sportsgrounds to take on DCU in their quarter final clash.

The Limerick college secured a last gasp one point win over N.U.I.G last Thursday, as they saw off the Connacht side on a 1-20 to 2-16 scoreline to progress to the next round. Limerick senior hurler Aaron Gillane scored 11 points on the day, 10 from frees.

Two hurling legends take charge of the other quarter final this evening, as Davy Fitzgerald’s LIT are on the road to face DJ Carey’s IT Carlow.

LIT advanced to the knock out stages with a facile win over Garda College on a 3-18 to 1-7 scoreline in their final group game. Clare star Peter Duggan hit 2-10 for his side in the win.
