FIXTURES | Limerick Senior Hurling Championship kicks off with repeat of last years decider

Plenty of Limerick’s All-Ireland winners will be in club hurling action this weekend.

Less than a fortnight removed from the All-Ireland hurling final win over Kilkenny, the Limerick club hurling championships return this weekend from Senior to Junior.

A host of John Kiely’s men will be in action in the senior championship as Kilmallock look to defend the title they won last October.

The Balbec kick off the defence of their trophy in a rematch of last year’s final when they take on Patrickswell on Saturday evening in Claughaun.

On the same evening, there is repeat of the 2020 final with Na Piarsaigh and Doon meeting in Kilmallock.

Those four teams have contested the last five Limerick SHC semi-finals, with Ballybrown and Adare the last teams to break the stronghold back in 2016.

Adare will kick off the senior championship as they face Ahane on Thursday. Those teams met in the relegation play-off in 2020 where the East side came out on top.

In Group 2, Mungret St Pauls make their return to the senior ranks on Friday evening where they will meet Kildimo Pallaskenry in a repeat of the 2020 Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship final. KP were victorious on that night and claimed the county cup in their maiden year in the top tier.
