Former Limerick FC boss confirmed as Swindon Town assistant manager

Former Limerick FC manager Neil McDonald has been confirmed as new assistant manager at English League Two outfit Swindon Town.

McDonald joins the club as Phil Brown’s number two having held positions with the likes of West Ham United and Hull City.

It is not the first time that McDonald and Brown have worked together with the pair having served under Sam Allardyce at Bolton Wanderers between 2000 and 2005.

McDonald has also held Manager roles at Carlisle United, Ostersunds FK, and Blackpool, in addition to working as Allardyce’s Assistant at both West Ham and Blackburn Rovers.

The English man departed Limerick following less than one season with the club to link up with Graham Alexander at Scunthorpe United, however the partnership was short lived with the pair shown the door by the League One side.

“I’m very excited and I’m really looking forward to working with Phil Brown again. We will have success together.” McDonald told the club’s official website.
