Ogbene was named in his first Irish squad in May before making his debut against Hungary the following month.

The Nigerian born 24 year-old scored eight times in 32 appearences for Limerick FC in 2017 following his move from Cork City. Ogbene grew up in Cork and currently plays for Rotherham United who were relegated to League One last season.

Ogbene returned from injury ealier this month, playing the full 90 in four of Rotherham’s last five games.

Kenny has named a 27 strong man squad for next month’s games. Ireland travel to Azerbaijan on October 9, needing a win to keep alive any slim chance they have of progressing to the World Cup Qualification play-offs, having picked up just two points from their five games.

The sides drew when they met in early September, Shane Duffy securing a share of the spoils in the Aviva.

Three days later, Ireland face Oman in a friendly.
