Four from Limerick chosen on Hurling Team of the Week after claiming Munster title

Limerick made it four on the trot in the province over the weekend.

Limerick are well represented on the GAA.ie Hurling Team of the Week with four chosen after leading the county to a fourth successive provincial title.

Aaron Gillane is chosen to the team for the third time this year, Barry Nash and Declan Hannon make their second appearance while Seamus Flanagan is named for the first time this championship.

They alongside Kilkenny have four selected while Clare get three after pushing the Treaty to extra-time in a pulsating encounter.

Gillane makes his third successive Team of the Week appearance following on from his performances against Waterford and Tipperary in earlier rounds. The Patrickswell man had to work extremely hard for every ball given the conditions but he managed to pop over three from play and add seven from placed balls.

Nash, makes his second appearance on the Team of the Week as he was also named to the team after his display against Tipperary. The corner back was at his all action best in Thurles, in shutting down the Banner attack while launching a number of his own.

Hannon looked to have won the game for Limerick normal time but his long range effort was followed by a sublime Tony Kelly effort. The Adare native controlled proceedings from centre-back with his handprint evident in everything good Limerick produced.

Flanagan was named as the RTÉ man of the match and his inclusion is no surprise given his contribution of 0-8 from play. The Feohanagh Castlemahon was flawless in front of goal, hitting over six in normal time before adding a brace in the extras.

Clare’s John Conlon, David Fitzgerald and Tony Kelly make the team after their efforts against Limerick.

Newly promoted Antrim have a pair chosen while Leinster finalists Galway and Joe McDonagh Cup runners up Kerry both have one selected.
