Glenstal Abbey looking to join Crescent in Munster Senior Cup semi final stages

Last year’s runners up Glenstal Abbey take on Bandon Grammar at the Mardyke at 2pm on Thursday.

Tom Haye’s side will be looking to join fellow Limerick school Crescent Comp in the semi-final stages.

Glenstal edged out 26-times winners Rockwell College 10-8 in UL to reach the quarter-finals.

Yesterday Crescent College Comprehensive secured their place in the next round with a 27-20 win over Rockwell.

Crescent found themselves 10-0 to the good early on with tries from Conor Fitzgerald and Daire Feasy. Rockwell fought back to go back level at 10-10 going into the break.

Crescent regained the lead as Conor Philips went over for a try, which was converted by John Hurley while Feasy crossed the whitewash for his second after that. Again Rockwell hit back to go to within two points of the lead late on before Timmy Duggan scored Crescent’s fifth try in injury time to sure up the win.

The two other Limerick schools in action suffered heavy defeats at the hands of Cork opposition as CBC enjoyed a 58-17 win over St Clement’s College while Ardscoil Ris suffered a 67-7 defeat at the hands of holders PBC.
