Hanlon joins O’Neill in Signing for Pike

Former Limerick FC striker Kieran Hanlon has signed for Pike Rovers and is now re-united with former Limerick FC team-mate and Pike manager Robbie Williams.

Hanlon and Williams spent the 2019 season together at the Markets Field and Williams has convinced the reputable striker to leave Ballynanty Rovers in order to re-sign for the Hoops, a club he was briefly with in 2018.

Hanlon becomes the second signing in a week for the Crosagalla outfit following on from the arrival of junior international Danny O’Neill from Geraldines. Both players were team-mates on last year’s Limerick District League Oscar Traynor team.

Williams is clearly on a recruitment drive to freshen up the Pike squad. Last season, the Hoops were eliminated from the Munster Junior, FAI Junior and Tuohy Cups by bitter rivals Fairview and will be hoping to avenge those defeats and challenge on all fronts this season.

A statement on the clubs official Twitter page stated:

“We are delighted to announce the signing of ex League of Ireland striker Kieran Hanlon, previously with Ballynanty Rovers. Kieran (Red) will be a great addition to the squad and look forward to seeing him wearing the Hoops.”

With Keith Mawsdsley likely to depart, Hanlon will most probably be vying with Johnathan Grant for the striker’s position.
