Hayes records a double at Punchestown | Weekly Racing News

Chris Hayes carried on from an unforgettable Irish Champions Weekend by recording a double at Punchestown on Tuesday as he careers towards one of his best ever tallies for an Irish flat season.

Alizarine got him off on the right track in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies’ Maiden, the ambitiously-entered Sea The Moon juvenile overcoming trouble in running to get her neck in front for trainer Jessica Harrington.

It was more straightforward as he combined with Ado McGuinness to claim the BetVictor Race over nine furlongs easily on Casanova, who followed up on a Galway triumph for the same combination seven days earlier by galloping to a length-and-a-quarter victory.

Abbeyfeale rider Paddy Harnett also hit the target, biding his time on the inner on the Noel Meade-trained Evergreen And Red in the first division of the nine-furlong Irish Racing Working Together Handicap until taking it up inside the final furlong and galloping two lengths clear at the post.
