HIGHLIGHTS | Bruff overcome sloppy start to see of Dromin Athlacca in PIHC

Bruff and Dromin Athlacca played out an entertaining game in front of the Limerick GAA TV cameras on Thursday evening.

Bruff maintained their spot at the top of the Premier Intermediate standings with a 1-17 to 1-14 win over Dromin Athlacca in the third round of the championship.

The game looked like getting out of Bruff’s reach inside fifteen minutes as Dromin Athlacca raced into a 1-9 to 0-2 lead.

Bruff led by the minimum before Athlacca hit 1-8 on the bounce, the goal coming from David Breen that had them 1-3 to 0-2 clear.

Danny O’Leary stemmed the tide for Bruff, and a string of frees and one lovely score from play from the man had them within six at the break, 1-10 to 0-7 in Dromin Athlacca’s favour.

Bruff continued in this vein with four on the trot to start the second half.

They completed the comeback when Danny O’Leary fired to the corner of the net from an angle to make it 1-11 to 1-10 in Bruff’s favour.

Dromin Athlacca got off the mark in the second half on 40 minutes, as they reduced the deficit to one.

The teams were level at 1-12 apiece but Bruff had the next three scores and held out for the win, their second of the campaign.
