While the result didn’t got their way, Andrew Conway and Jack Daly made their first appearances in over a year after missing last season due to injury.
Munster kicked off their preseason in disappointing fashion as they were beaten 33-12 by Leinster last Friday evening in Musgrave Park.
The hosts had the first and final tries but the interim belonged to Leinster who crossed for five tries.
In front of a sold out Musgrave Park, Scott Buckley dotted down for the opening try of evening with Tony Butler kicking the conversion.
But Leinster replied with four tries before the interval from Jason Jenkins, Lee Barron (2) and Tommy O’Brien to lead 26-7.
Diarmuid Mangan concluded their scoring in the 57th minute with their fifth try. Munster did manage to put some gloss on the scoreline, Fionn Gibbons making a break, feeding Shane Daly who passed wide to Stephen Kiely to touch down in the corner.
While the scoreboard didn’t go in their favour, there were plenty of positives from the night as Kiely and Academy trio Kieran Ryan, Evan O’Connell and Shay McCarthy all made their first senior Munster appearances with Butler starting at out-half for the first time.
Andrew Conway and Jack Daly also made their first appearances in over a year after missing last season due to injury.
Next up for Munster is a trip to the Sportsground to face Connacht in a fortnight’s time.
