The side had lost three of their opening four URC games heading into Saturday’s clash.
Munster were on the winning side in the URC this weekend as they claimed an important win over Vodacom Bulls at Thomond Park on Saturday, winning out 31-17.
It was the first game to take place at Thomond Park this season with a fitting performance to match the occasion as the province recorded their biggest win of the season.
It was a sluggish start from the province, who were 3-0 down after 10 minutes but levelled the score with a Joey Carberry pen on 21 minutes.
Just before the 30 minute mark, Gavin Coombes notched the first try of the evening with Carberry converting with Munster storming into a 10-3 lead.
Both men combined again just seven minutes later to give the side a 14 point lead at half-time which was again extended three minutes after the interval. Jeremy Loughman got the third one over the line with Carberry converting yet again to put the province 24-3 to the good.
The Bulls replied with a try of their own on 50 minutes but Munster restored their lead with a bonus-point try from Tadhg Beirne, which would be their last score of the game.
The South African outfit grabbed a consolation try on 65 minutes but Rowntree’s side proved too strong for their opponents as they saw out a much-needed win over the South African side.
Munster travel to Leinster in the next round of URC which takes place at 5:15pm next Saturday.
