Highlights| Place-kick competition decides Champions Cup quarter-final as Munster fall to Toulouse

A stalemate in the Aviva after extra-time saw the sides battle it out in a place kick competition.

Munster were defeated by Toulouse in the quarter final of the Champions Cup after a place kick competition decided the game when the teams couldn’t be separated after 100 minutes.

Up stepped three each from Munster and Toulouse for the shoot out, with the French outfit nailing each of their four while Munster missed three out of five.

The game finished at 24 apiece in normal time with no added score in extra twenty minutes.

After just ten minutes Alex Kendellen bundled his way over the line to put the Shannonsiders in front and Carberry calmly slotted the conversion. The away side were quick to reply scoring two minutes later equalizing the score.

The French side assumed the lead mid way through the first half with Mattas Lebel expertly finding space on the outside and slotting the conversion with ease.

On the brink of half time Keith Earls was put away in the corner after some superb forward drives dragging the Toulouse defense in from the sideline.

Munster stormed into the second half through a Mike Haley try putting the men in red back in front.

The French side were down to fourteen men due to a yellow card following a shocking challenge on Simon Zebo but Munster only managed three points in that period to move ten clear.

Lebel had it back to a three point difference with his second try before Thomas Ramos levelled the game from the tee.

After a score less extra time the penalty kick competition was left to decide this game but unfortunately it wasn’t to be for Munster on the day losing at the bitter end.
