South Liberties booked their first semi-final spot in the Limerick SHC since 1985.
South Liberties became the first team outside the top four to reach the semi-finals of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship since 2016 when they beat Patrickswell at the weekend.
The East side were full value for a 1-13 to 0-14 win over Patrickswell to end a 37-year wait for a final four berth in the SHC.
Tom Ryan’s last minute point put the gloss on the result where Brian Ryan got the games only goal midway through the second half.
Liberties trailed by three at the half but it could have been so much worse with Patrickswell inaccurate in front of goal.
Barry Nash had the first two points of the game from frees but the ‘Well hit back with five unanswered, holding the lead until Ryan’s 45th minute strike.
Twice Patrickswell regained parity but never found the lead again with Nash and Tom Ryan firing Liberties to victory down the strecth.
South Liberties take on Na Piarsaigh in the Limerick SHC semi-final this Saturday at 3.30pm in Kilmallock.
