Killeedy were beaten in the final of the 2021 SCC by Newcastle West
2020 Senior Camogie winners Killeedy will be looking to go one better in this year’s championship as they aim to avenge their final defeat last year.
It was a four-point margin that made the difference between Killeedy and rivals Newcastle West in the 2021 final, as the latter got revenge on the side that beat them in the final of the year previous.
With a new season on the horizon, Killeedy’s Karen Mullane believes her side have more ‘hunger and bite’ ahead of the 2022 campaign from last year’s defeat and is confident they can get back to winning ways.
“At the moment we’re training very hard and I think we have a bit more hunger and bite in us this year after what happened last year.
“We beat Newcastle the year before so it’s like every second year and it’s our turn again this year so hopefully we can do it again.”
Killeedy will be playing their camogie in group one this year and they get their championship underway against Ahane and Mullane believes every fixture will prove a tough task this year.
“Ahane will be well up for it as will everyone else in the championship. They’re all senior clubs there, we’re all going for the same thing at the end of the day so every game will be hard fought for.”
Killeedy face Ahane this Saturday in the round one of the Neville Jewellers Senior Camogie Championship.
