ICYMI: John Kiely and Billy Lee reaction to Limerick’s weekend results

It was a mixed weekend for Limerick’s hurlers and footballers. John Kiely’s hurling side played out an entertaining draw in Ennis on Sunday, while Billy Lee’s footballers lost to Derry on Saturday.

Limerick’s hurlers needed two late Aaron Gillane frees to earn a draw with Clare in Cusack Park.

Kiely’s men dominated the game for large parts, but two second half Clare saw them leading as the contest neared its end.

However, Gillane showed his nerve to send over two placed balls to ensure that Limerick finished at the top of Division 1A.

They will now play Laois in the Allianz Hurling League quarter final. See John Kiely’s reaction to the 2-11 to 1-14 results below.

Things were not as positive for the county’s senior football side as they fell to a 0-13 to 1-5 defeat to Derry at the Gaelic Grounds.

Lee’s men led by 1-4 to 0-5 at half time thanks to Colm McSweeney’s goal. That two point advantage was not enough as Derry dominated the second half.

Limerick could only manage one further point and Derry cruised to victory with the strong breeze at their back. A frustrated Lee gave his reaction after the defeat.
