ICYMI: Limerick’s hurlers return to league’s top flight with win in Wexford

Limerick began life back in Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League with a 1-17 to 2-11 win against Wexford at Wexford Park.

Aaron Gillane’s 1-5 helped Limerick overcome a strong Wexford challenge to earn a victory in their first Division 1A game since 2010.

After the game, Limerick manager John Kiely was a happy man.

“I was delighted to get two points and get off the mark and get a win. Any day you get a win down here is a good day’s work.”

Gearoid Hegarty also spoke to Sporting Limerick after the game and was delighted to come away from Wexford Park with an opening day win.

“It was a good fixture to get because it focused us straight away. Wexford in Wexford is always a tough game so delighted to be back first of all and delighted with the two points as well.
