ICYMI: Six Limerick players named on GAA teams of the week

Last weekend was the perfect one for the Limerick Senior footballers and hurlers as both concluded their League campaigns with silverware.

Billy Lee’s side were crowned Division 4 champions in Sligo with a 1-16 to 1-14 win while the hurlers overwhelmed Clare 0-36 to 1-23 in the Munster championship that doubled as a League final.

As such, six Limerick players were named on the OfficialGAA teams of the week with two from the footballers and four from Kiely’s team.

Iain Corbett’s wonderous performance was rewarded with a place on the Football team of the week as was Darragh Treacy’s tour de force in midfield.

Half back duo Declan Hannon and Diarmaid Byrnes were named on the Hurling team of the week as they notched 0-4 between them from defence.

At the other end of the field, Gearoid Hegarty and Tom Morrissey were also selected as they accounted for 0-9 from play.

Hegarty was also nominated for hurler of the week.

This weekend the footballers take on Waterford in the Fraher Fields in the Munster quarter-final on Saturday evening.

The following day the hurlers meet Tipperary in Pairc Ui Chaoimh in the Munster semi-final.
