Ireland Sevens enjoy Bowl success in San Jose

Ireland secured a Bowl final win with 19-12 win over core team Canada on Sunday at the Silicon Valley 7’s.

Anthony Eddie’s men claimed victory over the Canadians twice over the weekend, as they also beat them 19-5 in the pool stages. Canada had gotten off to a flying start before the loss to Ireland beating England 19-10.

Ireland, who’s side feature Limerick’s Greg O’Shea lost their first game against Samoa 10-5 while they suffered a 26-5 loss to England in their third game on Saturday, as fatigue began to creep in – both sides are core teams on The World Series.

On Sunday, Ireland took part in the Bowl following their performance in the pool, they claimed an emphatic 38-5 win over China in the semi-final before their win over Canada in the decider.

The Irish will have one last run out at the Dubai 7s in December before they travel to Hong Kong in April for the World Series Repechage, where they will attempt to earn their place as a core team.
