The Treaty United captain’s goal was a catalyst ini their upturn of fortunes as it helped end a run of eight games without a win in the first division.
Jack Lynch’s stunning strike against Athlone Town in the Markets Fields has been named the SSE Airtricity First Division Buy4Pets Online Goal of the Season.
Lynch’s audacious effort saw him score directly from a free-kick out on the sideline just inside the opposition’s half. Spotting the keeper off his line, Lynch made the perfect connection to give Treaty a two-nil lead as they held on for victory, their first in eight games.
The goal was also voted as the First Division’s Goal of the Month for June as well as the Treaty United goal of the season.
It was one of seven goals for Lynch who announced his departure from the club at the season’s end as he emigrates. Lynch signed for Treaty United from Galway United as a member of the original 26-man squad in 2021 and was made the first ever captain of the club’s senior men’s side, going on to make 49 appearances with seven goals and three assists.
