John Kiely includes Lynch, Casey, Hayes and Quaid from the start for Clare clash

Peter Casey is set to make his first start for Limerick since the 2021 All-Ireland final win over Cork where he suffered a knee injury.

John Kiely has named his Limerick side to take on Clare in the second round of the National Hurling League this Saturday evening in the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

There are seven of the All-Ireland winning XV named from the start with seasonal debuts for Nickie Quaid, Kyle Hayes and Peter Casey. Cian Lynch also makes his first start since last May after featuring off the bench in the first round defeat to Cork. For Casey, it is a first start since he ruptured his ACL in the 2021 All-Ireland final.

Sean Finn, Dan Morrissey, Richie English, Colin Coughlan, Darragh O’Donovan, David Reidy, Gearoid Hegarty and Seamus Flanagan are retained from the loss in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

There are full league debuts for Fergal O’Connor, Shane O’Brien and Micheal Houlihan with the former pair making cameo appearances in the first round.

Coughlan starts just two days after helping UL in to the Fitzgibbon Cup semi-final with a dominant win over UCD in Castletroy. Adam English is among the subs after scoring 0-5 in that victory.

Elsewhere, Jimmy Quilty is in line for a league debut with last year’s U20 captain featuring in both Munster Hurling League contests.

After starting in Pairc Ui Chaoimh, David McCarthy, Aaron Costelloe, Tom Morrissey, Graeme Mulcahy and Oisin O’Reilluy drop to the bench.
