Joy Neville set to officiate first ever European fixture

This will be another piece of history added to Neville’s long list of refereeing achievements.

Bordeaux- Begles play host to Enisei- STM in the European Challenge Cup tonight and Joy Neville will officiate the fixture and in doing so becomes the first female ever to officiate a European Club fixture.

Neville has previously been involved in European ties as assistant referee but this will be the first time she has been handed the task of being a referee in the competition.

This new piece of history comes at the end of a very busy period for the former Munster and Ireland International after becoming the first female to officiate a men’s international when she refereed Finland V Norway as well as being an assistant official in both the Barbarians V Tonga and France V Japan ties.
