Key dates confirmed for knockout rounds in Limerick SHC

The senior hurling championship will return with the knockout rounds in early October.

Key dates for the knockout stages of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship have been confirmed after the group stages came to a close over the weekend.

Yesterday, the draw for the quarter-finals was made with Kildimo Pallaskenry drawn with Doon and South Liberties to face Patrickswell. Both of those games will take place in Kilmallock with the first quarter on October 8 before the second the following afternoon.

Kilmallock and Na Piarsaigh await in the Limerick SHC semi-finals which will be played one week after the quarters. If Patrickswell and Doon come through their respective quarter-finals, it will be the same final four for the sixth successive season.

Na Piarsaigh will be in action first with their semi-final to take place on Saturday October 15 with the time and venue yet to be confirmed. That game will be shown live on RTÉ.

The following afternoon, defending champions Kilmallock will look for a second successive final spot with their last four tie on Sunday October 16.

The final will take place on Sunday October 30 at the TUS Gaelic Grounds at 4.30pm with TG4 to broadcast the game live. It will be the first contest at the Ennis Road venue since Limerick’s win over Offaly in the National Hurling League on March 20.

The County Cup final fixture has also been confirmed with Mungret St Pauls and Ballybrown set to meet on October 8 at 4pm in Claughaun.

The knockout rounds for the Intermediate and Junior A Championships will follow the same dates as the senior with the quarters the weekend of October 8/9, semi-finals 15/16 and the final a fortnight later.

The final round of the Premier Intermediate Championship will take place on October 8 with six teams still in contention for the semi-final spots. Those last four meetings will be played on the weekend of October 15/16 with the final fixed for the same day as the senior decider. Last year it acted as a curtain raiser for the SHC final.
