John Kiely is to stay on as Limerick senior hurling manager after a two year deal was confirmed at tonight’s county board meeting.
The Galbally native’s initial term ended after Limerick’s All-Ireland semi final defeat to Kilkenny, but he has agreed to stay on.
There are further changes to his back room team, however, with Brian Geary stepping down his role as selector/coach.
Geary’s exit adds to that of S&C coach Joe O’Connor. The Rathkeale man stepped down last month.
Limerick have opted to promote Ballybrown’s Mikey Kiely from his role with the underage academy to fill O’Connor’s shoes.
Former Limerick senior captain Donal O’Grady has also been brought on board to replace Geary.
Coach Paul Kinnerk, as well as Clare duo Alan Cunningham and Aonghus O’Brien remain in place for 2020.
Elsewhere, the draws for the Limerick SHC quarter finals have been confirmed.
Group 2 winners Ahane will play Kilmallock, while Ballybrown take on Doon. Both games have been fixed for the LIT Gaelic Grounds on Sunday, September 15. The games throw in at 2pm and 3:45pm respectively.
The semi final draw has also been confirmed, with the winners of Ahane v Kilmallock facing Na Piarsaigh and the victors of the Ballybrown v Doon fixture set to play Patrickswell.
The semi finals will take place on the following Sunday (September 22nd).
