The Limerick District League committee have announced that a Limerick District League selection will take on Limerick senior soccer club Treaty United to mark the 50th anniversary of Jackman Park on Carey’s Road.
Jackman Park is the headquarters of the Limerick District League Committee and hosts all the organisations’ weekly meetings. The Carey’s Road venue is the home of the league and has hosted several national and provincial finals over the years as well as all Limerick District League Divisional Cup finals.
Furthermore, Jackman Park hosted League of Ireland football for many years in the last two decades including from 2002-2004 and from 2007- 2012. There have been many changes to Jackman Park in recent years including vast improvement in dressing room facilities and the addition of new floodlights and a new scoreboard.
In email correspondence to all junior clubs and local media, the LDL announced the friendly to mark the great milestone.
“To mark the 50th Anniversary of Jackman Park, an LDL selection will play Treaty United on Friday February 10th . Timings to be confirmed closer to the date. All leagues in the LDL will be represented in this squad. Details of the squad to be chosen will be disclosed in the coming weeks.”
The LDL squad will be managed by Declan Considine, Daithi O’Donoghue and current Athlunkard Villa manager Keith Kerley and will battle it out with Tommy Barrett’s men in what will be Treaty’s final pre-season game before the beginning of the 2023 League of Ireland season.
