Former RTE sports commentator Jimmy Magee has passed away following a lengthy illness.
‘The Memory Man’ who joined RTE in 1956 commentated on 11 Olympic Games and 12 World Cups.
Magee began his career working as a broadcaster on RTE Radio, he also wrote for the Sunday World later in his career.

As his previous employers put it, Magee was simply different class.
