Limerick Celtics and Sport Eagles continue their title charge while it’s another disappointing weekend for the Women’s teams

The last time either of the women’s teams were on the winning side was the Limerick derby on the 23rd of October.

The Limerick Celtics and Sport Eagles continued to put the pressure on Moy Tolka Rovers at the top of the Men’s Division One as they both put wins on the board yet again this weekend.

The Celtics were victorious over SETU Carlow with the score ending 91-82. They’ve continued to respond well from their round 6 defeat against the Sport Eagles with a second consecutive victory and now sit in third place on 18 points.

Also in Limerick, the Sport Eagles continued their fine form with another victory, this time over Scotts Lakers SPK with the Eagles hitting a century of points in their 102-84 victory. The result keeps them joint top with Moy Tolka Rovers with both teams notching seven wins from their opening eight.

Meanwhile, both of the Limerick women’s teams were on the losing side for the third straight game week with defeats for both the Limerick Celtic and the Sport Huskies.

Only five points separated the Celtics and St Paul’s Killarney as the Kerry side ran out 84-79 winners. The result leaves the Celtics in sixth place after their fourth loss of the campaign despite being 4-0-1 after five games.

The Limerick Sport Huskies remain rooted to the bottom following their seventh straight defeat, leaving the side on 0 points. The score ended 57-66 in favour of McEvoy’s Cavan Eagles with the Limerick outfit putting up a great fight against the second placed side.
