The Willie Boland led U-14 Limerick District League Kennedy Cup side ensured their passage to the quarter-final stage of the competition following two more victories on Tuesday. In the early kick-off, Limerick defeated the Midlands 2-0 before beating WWEC by the same margin in the evening kick-off. Excitement will now build ahead of tomorrow’s quarter-final showdown at 5pm against Kildare on pitch 3.
Limerick County were beaten 2-0 by SDFL in the early afternoon kick-off but picked up a valuable 2-0 victory over West Cork in the evening fixture. Unfortunately for the county side, they missed out on a place in the quarter final due to an inferior goal difference to Kildare who they had earlier beaten. As a result they will enter the bowl competition for all teams who finish in second place in their group. They will come up against Waterford on pitch 3 at 3pm.
It was a disappointing day for the Limerick Desmond League side who drew 1-1 with Clare but suffered a heavy 4-0 reverse at the hands of Wexford who qualified for the cup competition in first place. Limerick Desmond agonisingly missed out on a place in the bowl competition by a single goal to Clare. As a result, they will enter the Shield where they will face WWEC at 1pm on pitch 3.
