Limerick District League Premier Division Round-up

Pike Rovers continued their 100% record in the Limerick District League Premier Division on Sunday with a 4-1 victory over Nenagh AFC. Robbie Williams side raced into a 2-0 half-time lead with goals from Conor Layng and Eoin Hanrahan. Layng continued his impressive season in the second period adding two more goals to complete a hattrick while Kevin Barry also netted to complete the win.

Fairview Rangers ensured that they kept pace with the leaders as they trounced Mungret Regional 0-6 in Mungret. Captain AJ O’Connor opened the scoring and was joined on the scoresheet by Mark Slattery, Stephen Bradley, Conor Coughlan, Ross Mann and Eoin Duff. Attention will now turn to a trip to Carrigaline in defence of their FAI title next weekend.

Ballynanty Rovers also picked up a big victory on Sunday as they defeated Janesboro 0-5 at Pearse Stadium. There were five different scorers on the day with Liam Brock, Eddie Byrnes, Adrian Power, Arron Nunan, and Filip Mostowy giving Dave Dunphy’s side their second league win in succession.

In the bottom half clash between Coonagh and Kilmallock, both sides produced a thriller which ended 5-4. Kenneth Meehan opened the scoring for the home side but they were pegged back by a resiliant Kilmallock shortly afterwards. Two quickfire goals from Rory O’Neill and Brion Moriarty sent Coonagh into a commanding 3-1 lead with the visitors pulling one back before half-time. Ger Myles was set up by Moriarty to score his side’s fourth before Moriarty grabbed his second goal of the game. Kilmallock rallied and made it a nervy ending as they scored two goals to make it a one goal game. However, Coonagh held on and are now just two points behind Nenagh in 6th place in the race for a top half finish.
