Limerick District League Premier Division Round-Up

Despite being written off by man including this writer for the game, Coonagh United managed to pick up a victory in the first major shock of the season with a 2-1 win over Aisling Annacotty. It is also Coonagh’s first league victory under their new management duo of Paudie Hickey and Ian Connolly.

The win was sealed in dramatic circumstances, but Ronan Ryan had given Coonagh the lead which they held for a long period. In the final minutes, Richkov Boevi equalised and the sides seemed destine to share the spoils until Niall Earls headed home a dramatic winner.

Coonagh United: Josh Sheehan, Aodhan Keane, Niall Earls, Joey Sheahan, Andrew Leydon, Ger Higgins, Ciaran Barry, Ronan Ryan, Daniel Ikoghode, Ger Myles, Ian Considine

Mungret Regional claimed their first win of the season in a very entertaining encounter on Sunday morning. Szymon Popiela scored two goals in the first half which looked to be sending Nenagh to an all-important victory in the race for the top 6.

However, second half goals from experienced duo Aled Harkin and Donie Curtin levelled the game before Conor Myers grabbed the winner much to the relief of Richie Burke and co considering results elsewhere.

Mungret Regional: James Roche, Mark Patterson, Aaron Long, Conor Myers, Sean O’Sullivan, Donie Curtin, David Conway, Craig Prendergast, Aled Harkin, Kieran Long, Eoghan Kelly subs used: Josh O’Rahilly, Ben Flanagan

Nenagh AFC: Eoghan Tinkler, Eoin Coffey, Bryan McGhee, Eamon White, Lee Mowat (Kieran Barr), Dylan Morrison, Adam Ryan, Kieran O’Brien, Matthew Spain, Aidan White, Szymon Popiela

Regional United’s tough week ended with a narrow 0-1 defeat at home to Ballynanty Rovers. James Fitzgerald was once again the provider as he set up the in-form Habideen Gbedebo to net the only goal of the game.
