Limerick trio named on Ladies HEC Football Rising Stars and All-Star Teams

The teams were announced this morning on the Ladies HEC Social Media pages.

O’Connor Cup champions UL dominate the selection on the Ladies HEC All-Star side with six selections from the champions. Limerick’s Roisin Ambrose is named on the side while her club and county mate Iris Kennelly is chosen on the Rising Star team.

Monaghan native Grainne McKenna, who captained the side, is also chosen on the Rising Stars team after transferring to Limerick earlier this season.

UL’s Ambrose, who has won both O’Connor and Ashbourne medals, was selected at centre-back on the All-Star team. Ambrose is Limerick’s current captain, as they prepare for a league semi-final this weekend.

Her teammates, Aoife Molly (Galway) Erika O’Shea (Cork), Aisling Reidy, Fiadhna Tagney (Kerry), and Ailish Morrissey (Galway) are also chosen on the team after helping their side retain the title.

Mayo and Mary I’s Laura Brennan was named in goals in the All-Star side alongside as was her teammate Megan Ryan (Donegal) at no.3 after the Limerick college were crowned Giles Cup champions.

Elsewhere, a duo of TUS MidWest players were named on the Rising Stars team after they won the Lagan Cup. Grainne McKenna was named at centre back while Player of the Match in the final and Limerick star Kennelly was selected in the no.10 jersey.

Kenneally and Ambrose are club teammates with Old Mill, who reached last year’s Limerick Senior Ladies Football semi-final after winning the intermediate title in 2019.
