Limerick 1-27
Galway 0-18
A hungry Limerick eased beyond 14-man Galway at the TUS Gaelic Grounds. It gets John Kiely’s men back on track after the disappointment of losing out to Clare last Sunday.
The winners were aided by the dismissal of Conor Cooney – for two yellows – but in truth, the home side were comfortable long before the St. Thomas’ man was send off.
He received his first early in the first stanza for a heavy hit on Mike Casey. This forced the Na Piarsaigh man off with a head injury. The second for a challenge on Barry Murphy.
Limerick had a fine spread of scorers with Aidan O’Connor, Cathal O’Neill and Aaron Gillane all accurate.
The goal, after 20 minutes came from Shane O’Brien – who tallied 1-3 in the first half.
Scores for Tom Morrissey, Cian Lynch, David Reidy and the returning Peter Casey saw the boys in Green to a second win of 2025.
Next up is a clash with Kilkenny, away, next weekend, before meeting with Wexford to round out the group phase.
