Limerick footballers discover Tailteann Cup group opponents

Down are the bookies favourites to win this year’s Tailteann Cup, priced at 7/4, while Limerick are heavy outsiders at 66/1.

Jimmy Lee’s Limerick senior footballers were drawn to play Down, Offaly and London in Group 4 of the Tailteann Cup on Tuesday afternoon.

Limerick are third seeds in the group, having suffered relegation to Division 4 of the Allianz League and exiting the Munster Championship to Cork in the quarter-final.

The Shannonsiders kick off their Tailteann Cup campaign away to Down on the weekend of May 11/12, before hosting Offaly a week later. On the weekend of June 1/2, Limerick will lock horns with London, the tie to be played in a neutral venue.

Down are the bookies favourites to win this year’s Tailteann Cup, priced at 7/4, while Limerick are heavy outsiders at 66/1.

The first placed teams from four groups will advance to the quarter-finals. All second placed sides, along with the three best third-placed teams and New York, will advance to preliminary quarter-finals. The winners will face the top four teams in the quarter-finals.
