The Limerick footballers entertain Antrim this Sunday in what could be their final League outing of the campaign. Last weekend, Limerick’s clash with Wicklow was called off for the second time due to inclement weather. As a result of both sides standings, the game may not be re-fixed for a third time as neither can earn promotion.
Billy Lee has named his side for the game with a debut for former intercounty hurler Patrick Begley. For Limerick, this game with Antrim is a key indicator of where they are as they look to build on the win over Waterford last time out. In total, thirteen clubs are represented in the starting XV

Antrim still have a chance of bouncing straight back to Division 3 at the first time of asking but will need a favour from recently promoted Carlow and to pick up two wins from their remaining games themselves. The last time these sides crossed paths was in the first round of the 2016 All Ireland Qualifiers in Corrigan Park. There Limerick picked up an impressive 2-6 to 0-9 victory, a result which they will be hoping to repeat in Newcastle this Sunday.
If this is to be Limerick’s final League game of 2018, next up would be Clare in the quarter final of the Munster Championship on May 1 in the Gaelic Grounds. Clare have fared well in Division 2 this Spring and find themselves in fourth on 6 points heading into the penultimate game of the League.
This game throws in at 1pm in Newcastle on Sunday.
