Limerick host Tipperary in Munster minor football championship play-off

Limerick welcome Tipperary to Newcastle West this evening at 6.30pm in the Munster minor championship, knowing that defeat will spell the end of their campaign. Limerick come into the game on the back of a disappointing 3-13 to 2-9 loss to Clare last week. Whoever comes out on top tonight will travel to Waterford next Wednesday with the winner of that clash down to face Cork in the Provincial semi-final on May 8.

Last week against Clare, Limerick got off to the worst possible start, finding themselves trailing by 1-5 to 0-1 withing the opening quarter. By half-time they trailed by 11. To their credit they battled hard in the second, netting a brace of goals to reduce the deficit against a strong Clare side. After almost a decade without the win at this grade, Limerick have secured at least one victory in the competition for the last three years, reaching the semi-final in the previous two years.

Limerick are managed by Niall Crowley who has a backroom team consisting of Pa Ranahan, Davy Lyons, Pat McHugh and Andrew Lane. They have made three changes to the side that started against Clare last weekend with Luke Gammel, Darren Kearns and Dylan Moloney coming into the XV.
