Last week it was revealed that Limerick Bainisteoir John Kiely was in the running for the Manager of the Year prize.
After completing a three-in-a-row of All-Ireland titles, the Limerick Senior Hurlers have been nominated for Team of the Year at the RTE Sport Awards.
It is a second nomination for the side with manager John Kiely also in the running for an award this Saturday evening.
Limerick are one of ten sides in the running alongside fellow All-Ireland winners, Kerry (Football), Meath (Ladies Football) and Kilkenny (Camogie) with the winner to be announced live on RTE One.
The Treaty County secured their first three-in-a-row of senior hurling titles, holding off a second-half charge from Kilkenny in an electric All-Ireland final. John Kiely’s men also secured their fourth consecutive Munster crown to continue their dominance over province and country.

Limerick claimed a third successive All-Ireland title in July after they saw off Kilkenny after an epic final in Croke Park. That added to the Munster championship they secured the previous month which was their fourth on the spin.
John Kiely’s men face stiff competition for the prize they won in 2020 with other nominees having stellar years including the Irish Women’s National Team who secured a place at next year’s World Cup, para-cycling tandem duo of Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal claimed their sixth World Championship title while Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy claimed another lightweight double sculls world title.
