Limerick sealed their place in the All-Ireland Premier Junior Championship semi-final with a win over Down in their final group game.
Pat Ryan’s side were full value for a 2-13 to 1-6 win over the hosts as they maintained their 100% record.
Down had the first score of the day but Limerick’s response was emphatic. Enya Harrington got Limerick on the scoreboard with her first of the day with Ailbhe Larkin giving Shannonsiders the lead.
Valerie Shanahan’s goal gave Limerick a cushion but Down responded with a three pointer of their own to bring it back to a one point game.
The sides then exchanged scores from frees with Ide Cunningham pushing Limerick two clear.
Scores from Harrington and Larkin at the conclusion of the half gave Limerick a 1-7 to 1-4 lead at the interval.
As she did in the first, Shanahan began the half in scoring form, bagging her second goal of the game shortly after the restart.
Two frees from Harrington and one from play from Shanahan gave Limerick a comfortable 2-10 to 1-4 cushion at the second water break of the evening.
Down eventually got off the mark after the break but Larkin kept the scoreboard ticking as Limerick cruised to a ten point win.
