The Annual Limerick junior soccer awards are due to take place this evening at McGettigans Bar in Limerick City from 8.30pm. The event is organised by Pat Sheehan who is well known in both the city and county for his tireless work in covering the Limerick District League junior game across all levels. Pat updates fixtures, tables and goal scorers on a weekly basis as well as covering at least 2 matches a week with plenty of videos and pictures of the action.
This is the first time that the awards will take place since 2019 due to Covid-19 and Pat has managed to secure a vast number of sponsors for the event to cover each award ranging from U-17 Division Three Player of the Year to the Premier League Player of the Year. Also, there will be several inductees to the Limerick junior soccer Hall of Fame this evening.
Furthermore, there will be manager of the year awards and referee of the year awards to deliver. In another interesting part of the evening, a panel had been put together to select a team of the decade from 2010-2020 and it provided many headaches for those tasked with the challenge.
All junior soccer players, managers, clubmen and supporters are encouraged to attend the light-hearted evening as the season nears its ending.
