Limerick Junior Soccer Round-up

Pike Rovers displaced Ballynanty at the top of the premier league following a 2-0 victory at Limerick Institute of Technology. Johnathan Grant scored twice early in the second period to set up the win. Stephen McGann was then sent off for a rash tackle on Daragh Hughes. Despite having an Arron Nunan goal disallowed, Balla failed to significantly threaten the Pike goal and the Hoops held out.

In other league action, Janesboro thrashed Charleville with goals from Conor Lynch (3) and Shane Clarke (4) helping them along their way. Hyde Rangers produced the shock of the weekend as the 2A side defeated premier division Kilmallock in the FAI Junior Cup third round. Two goals from Kevin Slattery put the southside club on their way before Barry Sheedy ensured a nervy ending when he pulled one back for the home side. Hyde will now contest the out of town stages.

Fairview Rangers were easy victors over 1B side Caherconlish on a 9-3 scoreline. AJ O’Connor capped a fine performance with two goals while Reece Healy, Conor McCormack and another brace from Craig Madigan sealed the win.

Premier division Prospect Priory ensured there was no upset as they beat 1A promotion chasing Coonagh 2-1 at Priory Park. Ger Myles put Coonagh ahead but goals from Danny Colbert and James Cleary completed a comeback win for Derek Braddish’s side.
