Limerick learn semi-final opponents as All-Ireland Final rematch looms

It will be a repeat of last year’s All-Ireland final as Limerick take in Waterford in the All-Ireland semi-final this Saturday in Croke Park.

Limerick now know their All-Ireland semi-final opponents as Waterford booked their place in the last four with a win over Tipp on Saturday.

Liam Cahill’s men overpowered the Munster finalists in Pairc Ui Chaoimh, eventually running out 4-28 to 2-27 winners.

They now face into a repeat of last year’s All-Ireland final with John Kiely and co waiting in Croke Park.

Limerick will have had the advantage of two weekends off with Waterford having faced Laois, Galway and Tipperary in successive weeks in the lead up to Saturday’s game.

These sides met in last year’s Munster final where Limerick ran out 0-25 to 0-21 winners before they had 11 to spare in the All-Ireland decider.

While Waterford will be back in the semi-finals for the second consecutive year, Limerick will be appearing in a fourth successive last four tie.

In 2018, they overcame Cork AET while they lost out to Kilkenny in 2019. Last November, they outlasted Galway in Croke Park.

Waterford will be heavy underdogs in the clash but were also the outsiders last winter when they shocked Kilkenny at the same stage.

The winners of Saturday’s game will face the victor of Kilkenny and Cork who meet at 3.30 on Sunday afternoon.

Limerick v Waterford throws in at 5pm in Croke Park.
