Limerick man chosen for ambassador role with Lions.

Limerick man and Trinity Student Billy O’Hara has been chosen to accompany the British and Irish Lions on their Tour of New Zealand this Summer.

O’Hora, a first year Business, Economics and Social Studies student in TCD was selected after a rigorous selection progress. The former Crescent College player created a video which currently has over 6,000 views on YouTube before a trip to Dublin where he and 19 other candidates where individually interviewed.

There he was interviewed by the Lions tour manager John Spencer. By the conclusion of the weekend, O’Hora was informed that he had been chosen to your New Zealand.

Speaking to the University Times, O Hora said,

“it was too good of an opportunity to miss out on.”

“I’ve grown up as a huge fan of the Lions so to be in with a chance of being involved is amazing”.

O’Hora along with fellow Irish Co Ambassador Meadhbh Lewis will travel to New Zealand on June 12 for 15 days to take in the atmosphere of a Lions tour.

On his return he will share the experience to promote future Lions tours and also help improve grassroot rugby in Ireland.
