Limerick native Paudie O’Connor joins Bradford City on loan

Leeds United centre-back Paudie O’Connor has signed for English League One club Bradford City on loan until the end of the season. The Ballybrown native spent the first half of the season on loan at Blackpool where he made ten league appearances and featured in the FA Cup defeat to Arsenal last weekend.

A statement on the Leeds United Twitter page read:

“Leeds United defender Paudie O’Connor has today joined Sky Bet League One side Bradford City on loan until the end of the season. The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan with fellow League One outfit Blackpool, making 17 appearances in all competitions for the Bloomfield Road side.”

The club went on to say; “O’Connor, who has made four first team appearances for Leeds, will now link up with former Whites midfielder David Hopkin who is in charge at Valley Parade and look to help get Bradford out of the relegation zone.”

O’Connor spent two seasons at Limerick FC where he was part of the side who romped to the first division title in 2016. He burst on to the scene as a 17 year old in the Airtricity League Premier Division in 2015. He signed for Leeds in February 2017.
