Limerick Premier U19 Premier Hurling Championship down to the final four

There are a number of high quality games set to take place this evening in the Limerick Minor Hurling Championships.

The Limerick U19 hurling championships are approaching the business end with the semi-finals in the Premier and ‘A’ championships set for tonight.

The four ‘B’ division quarter-finals will also be played tonight.

In the Premier Championship, Newcastle West take on Bruff in Mick Neville Park at 6.45pm. Monaleen take on Mungret St Pauls in the other last four tie. Interestingly, all four adult teams from the clubs were competing in the Premier Intermediate championship last summer with Mungret St Pauls getting promoted.

Monaleen reached the decider last year but were overwhelmed by Ballybrown who won their third successive title. En route to that final, they beat tonight’s opponents Mungret St Pauls.

Newcastle West topped their group with three wins from three and will look to reach the final after falling to Ballybrown in the semis last year. Bruff were defeated by Monaleen in the group stages but regrouped to record wins over Na Piarsaigh and Cappamore.

Interestingly, Ballybrown are in the ‘A’ Championship quarter-final as they seek a fifth county title on the trot. They meet Kilmallock with Naoimh Eoin / Cnoc Gaels meeting Garryspillane in tonight’s other quarter-final.

Eight teams remain in the hunt for ‘B’ Championship honours but that will be whittled down to four after tonight.
