Limerick senior hurlers to face Kilkenny in All Ireland qualifiers.
John Kiely’s Limerick senior hurlers have their work cut out for them as they’ve been drawn away against Brian Cody’s Kilkenny in the first round of the All Ireland Qualifiers.
Limerick were resigned to the qualifier stage as a result of a 3-17 to 2-16 Munster Championship semi final loss to neighbors Clare.
While Kilkenny suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Davie Fitzgerald’s Wexford to exit the Leinster Championship.
The last time the two sides met in the All Ireland was in the 2014 semi finals where Kilkenny ran out 2-13 to 0-17 winners.
Meanwhile, All-Ireland hurling champions Tipperary, beaten by Cork in the Munster semi-final will face Westmeath.
Waterford, also beaten by Cork, travel to Offaly while Dublin will host Laois.
That means there could be three of last year’s All-Ireland semi-finalists in the second round if Tipp, Kilkenny and Waterford all win.
